Margaret Wynn is author of Fatherless Families (Michael Joseph, 1964), the first review of problems of unsupported mothers and their children in Britain; Family Policy (Michael Joseph, 1970; Penguin Books, 1972), a comparative study of the standards of living of families of different sizes and of family policy in European countries and the USA.

Arthur Wynn died peacefully on 23rd November 2001, aged 91. He was a scientist by education and was Director of Safety in Mines Research and subsequently Scientific Member of the National Coal Board responsible for research and medical services. When he retired he joined Margaret in the study of primary prevention of childhood handicap.

They are joint authors of Prevention of Handicap and the Health of Women (Routledge and Kegan Paul, 1979), of several monographs, including Prevention of Handicap of Early Pregnancy Origin (1981) and many papers on primary prevention.
